Highlights

Australian Gymnastics Championships

Bella McDonnell-Baum’s nationals campaign is an incredible testament to her resilience and strength.

On the first day of the competition, Bella faced a challenging setback when she slipped off the bars, resulting in a facial injury. The medical team promptly attended to her, ensuring her safety. After receiving clearance, Bella demonstrated her determination by returning to the competition, to compete on the vault. Despite the adversity she faced, Bella's exceptional performance qualified her for the vault finals, in third place.

Undeterred, Bella continued her pursuit on the second day of the competition. Displaying immense courage, she returned to compete on the vault. Her unwavering dedication paid off as she clinched the bronze medal in the senior international division. This remarkable achievement is even more remarkable when considering the calibre of competitors she faced, including Olympians, Commonwealth Games athletes, and members of World Championship teams.

Bella's story is a shining example of her mental fortitude and physical toughness. Overcoming a significant fall, she persevered to achieve third place in Australia on the vault, showcasing her exceptional talent and indomitable spirit. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us of the remarkable heights that can be reached through determination and resilience.

Andrews Cup Cross Country

Clayfield College's representation at the Andrews Cup Cross Country Competition in Toowoomba showcased the talent of 28 girls from Years 2 to 6. Our runners committed to nine weeks of rigorous training, including Interhouse and practice competitions, leading up to event. The picturesque weather in Toowoomba served as the perfect backdrop for the girls to toe the line and compete over the open-air terrain.

A round of applause goes out to all the runners who gave their best effort while facing determined, formidable opponents. Among the standout performers were Audrey Hoysted and Lainey Madders (9 Years), who secured impressive 8th and 4th place finishes. Additionally, Allegria Heinemann, T'ea Sherman, and Lainey Madders were selected to represent the college in the prestigious Noel McBride Relay event.

Congratulations goes out to all cross-country runners for digging deep and proudly representing Clayfield College at the Andrews Cup Cross Country Competition.
