Boarding News
Mrs Kathryn Searle - Head of Boarding
Greetings from Japan where Dr Cousins and I have spent the week marketing our wonderful school through international agents and visiting prospective families and our newly partnered school in Tokyo, Laurus International School of Science.
While I have been away, the boarders have enjoyed the week celebrating National Boarding Week with events throughout the week including trivia nights, a dedicated boarders’ assembly, and of course, dessert every night. We will end the celebrations on Saturday with a colour run on the school oval. Thank you to Dr Cousins who gifted the boarders with popcorn makers. These will be put to great use on the weekends.
Thank you to the day students and other boarding schools who attended our Year 7 to 9 Disco on Saturday night. Everyone had a lot of fun between dancing and playing games in our backyard. It is at times like these that I realise the benefits of having such a great space in our Boarding House. Thank you to the Boarding Seniors who supervised the younger students on the night and fundraised through the sales of drinks and chocolates.
It was very exciting to receive the news on Monday that our Boarding House has again received an Excellence Award from The Educator and is a finalist for Boarding School of the Year. This award is a testament to our amazing boarding staff who dedicate their time and energy to the health and safety of our boarding students.
Dr Cousins and I will be on the road again from Sunday 4 June visiting current and prospective families and Old Collegians in Charters Towers and Townsville while attending the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) State Conference in Julia Creek.
