AFL Gala Day- Paul Kelly Cup

Last Friday, 5th May, we had  two teams from Year 5 and Year 6 participate in the AFL Paul Kelly Cup.

It was a great day for those who haven't played before to learn new skills and work outside their comfort zone.

Both teams displayed teamwork and sportsmanship, encouraging their teammates and students from other schools.

There was a nail biting grand final game held between both St Xavier's teams. This made it difficult to pick who to cheer for. Congratulations to St Xavier's Blue team for remaining undefeated and for St Xavier's 1 for giving them a challenge.

Netball- Anne Singleton Cup

On Thursday 27th April eleven eager Year 5 and 6's played 10 games of netball for the Anne Singleton Cup. This competition has been a long running event for the schools of Gunnedah. The girls exhibited teamwork, fairness and great sportsmanship throughout the day. They won four games overall which is a great effort.

Winter Trials

On Friday, 28th April, four St Xavier's students travelled to Tamworth as members of the Diocesan Teams to compete at the Polding Winter Trials.

Maggie Brown and Grace Baker were in the Soccer Team. Lachlan Smith and Angus Simpson were in the Rugby League Team.

There were over 500 athletes from all over the Polding region competing in Hockey, Netball, Football and Rugby League.

Congratulations to Angus Simpson who was named in the Polding Rugby League Team to compete at NSWPSSA Rugby League in Liverpool in June.
