Education Week: 'Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate'
This week has been a fun week full of engaging activities all centered around the theme of 'Active Learners: move, make and motivate'. It was lovely to see parents and families visiting classrooms during a craft activity on Tuesday afternoon, the students participating in dress-ups and photography with Diana during Art sessions and group bike riding sessions during PE.
The drumming incursion was energetic and enjoyed by all staff and students who attended. Our week of celebrating public education culminated in a dazzling disco which is a crowd favourite here at Belmore, where students each have the opportunity to share a chosen song with their peers and dress up if they would like too. A lovely way to finish the week!
Mother's Day Celebration
Last Friday afternoon it was wonderful to host a Mother's day afternoon tea for our very special group of Mothers. It was lovely to show our appreciation and host our afternoon tea in our brand new library space. The students and staff were excited to welcome you into our new music club that happens on Friday afternoons in the hall.
We hope you all had a lovely Sunday with your families.
Positive Behaviour Support
This term our focus in the classroom and around the school is on the behaviour expectation of ‘Be Kind’. Students are learning about behaviours that demonstrate being kind and include some of the following: sharing, waiting, taking turns, helping others, letting others shine, thinking about how others are feeling, saying something nice to someone, being caring, using your manners, and listening to others. Social stories, stories, role playing, videos, games and photos are used to explicitly teach the appropriate social behaviour. Staff are modelling these expectations across the school and students are encouraged, praised, and rewarded for demonstrating these behaviours at school.
Here are some students showing how they can be kind at school. Aryana is demonstrating sharing her iPad program with her friends Caroline and Peyton. Well done Aryana!
