Attendance

Ensuring your child comes to school EVERY DAY is the most important thing you can do to support your child’s learning. Did you know that missing one day a fortnight is the same as missing four whole weeks of school a year? If this occurs every year from Prep to Year 12 that adds up to 1.5 years of school missed! Whilst there are often good reasons why a student can’t come to school it is vital that holidays are planned during school holidays where possible, and not during the term if it can be avoided. This link will provide you with some common reasons students miss school and the recommended way for you to manage this. Please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the Principal Class Team if you would like support getting your child to school EVERY DAY.

Child safety and wellbeing at Launching Place Primary School: Information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Launching Place Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on the school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions about Child Safety at Launching Place Primary School, please contact the school office.

New Breakfast Club Appliances

New kitchen appliances have been purchased

for the Breakfast Club. This was funded by a grant from the Victorian Foodbank partnered with The Good Guys. We have received a new Sandwich Press, Microwaves and Toaster to help ensure our breakfast club continues to offer our students a nutritious breakfast before school. Thanks to Sharyn for doing the research into the appliances we needed and to the Victorian Foodbank and The Good Guys for their support of our school.

Breakfast Club

It has been shown, through interviews with staff and an evaluation by Victoria University that students who participate in the School Breakfast Clubs Program are better able to concentrate, have improved social skills and are more punctual to school. The program encourages a whole-of-school approach to healthy eating and builds an inclusive, supportive school community.

LPPS breakfast Club is held two mornings a week  Wednesday and Thurs 8.10am -8.40am.

Everyone is welcome.

Parking

Street parking is available along Carter street and Grieve street. Please be courteous to our surrounding residents, when parking, dropping off or collecting students from school. Please obey parking signs and do not park in or over driveways. We ask that you leave enough time to drop off and pick up children in a safe and legal manner.

LPPS Fundraiser for State school relief.

Wednesday 21st June is a free dress day.

Donate a Dollar Day:  Next week

State Schools Relief do incredible work across our public schools and right now they need everyone's help!  SSR are having a "Donate a Dollar" Day next Wednesday 21 June, and they encourage all schools to help collect funds. From SSR: "In order to continue assisting students in need, we are aiming to raise $500,000 this year. If every student and staff member at every government school donated just $1 each, we could easily achieve this target. $500,000 would allow us to assist an additional 5,000 students and families in need."
