Principal's Message
A Vision for a partnership
By now you might have taken the time to watch what I describe as the 'cringe' video (I'm convinced no one likes hearing themselves talk) to the right, which Audrey our Office Manager, very kindly organised late last year. The purpose of the video is to showcase our school, our aims and vision for the future, mostly for prospective parents.
One aspect discussed in this video is the idea of the school - parent partnership. As educators we have heard this spoken about for decades. Conversation usually center's around home readers, homework programs, parents assisting in classrooms, parent volunteers attending camps and excursions, parent participation in community events and membership in Parents and Friends Associations.
I think we can all see the benefit in parents being involved in their child/ren's schooling. I also recognise that for each family their capacity to be able to do may so also be varied, possibly differing as their children make their way through Prep to Year Six.
I would like to bring your attention to the other side of this partnership. How we as a school can assist you as parents.
We love your children (cue the 'ooooeew' from students). We are a significant part of your children's lives from 5 to 12 years of age. It is so important to us that we are able to support, care for, connect with and understand your child's world. Your child's wellbeing in this world has an impact on their learning. We understand that connection between positive wellbeing and successful learning and hence aim to do everything we can to support.
Launch wants to know. If your child is unhappy, we want to know. If your child is struggling with friendships, we want to know. If your family is struggling, we want to know.
Help us, support you.
