HICES cross country

On 23 May 41 students from Year 2-6 competed at the HICES cross country carnival, held in Bathurst. With big numbers in all races we were up against some heavyweight competition in schools from the Central Coast, Sydney, Penrith, Dubbo, Snowy Mountains, Bathurst, and Orange. Kinross Wolaroi performed exceptionally well, coming away with 3rd place in the overall team event, 1st place in the aggregate trophy and 8 top 10 individual finishes.

Congratulations should go to all participants for representing the school so well, showing great sportsmanship and courage when the pre-race nerves set in. Highlights included Marlon Zielinski finishing 1st in his event with a time of 8minutes flat, 7 seconds ahead of the next best runner. Liam Hayward finished 4th in a time of 8.42. and Kimberley Williams came in 6th after an impressive last final km to finish with a time of 9.37. Next time you are out for a trot, see if you can run 2km in the above times, that will give you a real appreciation for how well our runners did on the day, especially on a hilly course and a hot day.

We had a number of other top 10 finishes that sees them qualify for the next level. We wish the following 8 runners well as they head to CIS cross country on the 8June at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. Liam Hayward, Kimberley Williams, Ivy Coleman, Marlon Zielinski, Elspeth Kerridge, Willa Dunlop, Sam Rusten and Asher Jones.

U12 Strikers – 27.05.23

Andy Bell

On Saturday the u12 KWS Strikers faced Cudal at Waratahs. It was a really close game between the two well-matched teams and the score at halftime was 3-2 to Cudal. A hat trick Andy Bell from a free kick tied the game up at 4-4.

In the final minute of the game Saxon Haynes scored and KWS won the game 5-4.

We had a lot of support from the sidelines and even the Head Boy Zaro Jalal came along to cheer us on.

Overall we had a good time and hope to keep this winning streak going.
