The TPS Junior School Council plays a vital role in fostering student engagement, decision making and overall student wellbeing. Council members will have the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of our school community and make a positive impact on the lives of fellow students.
Selection was based on the ability to address the student selection criteria, which involved demonstrating your understanding and embodiment of the school values of being safe, being a learner and being respectful. Additionally, students who expressed the desire to be a Junior School Council representative showed eagerness to actively contribute to the council’s objectives. As a member of the TPS Junior School Council, members will be expected to fulfil certain ongoing commitments. These include:
- Weekly lunchtime meetings with a member of the Principa Team or 3-6 PLC Teams (Times and days to be announced)
- Providing a fortnightly student news update for the school newsletter
- Organising a lunchtime activity once a week, with details announced during the previous week’s school assembly (eg: board game in the Library)
- Planning a kitchen special every fortnight, with details announced during the previous weeks school assembly ( eg: Hot Chocolate Day in winter or icy pole day in Summer)
- Participating in a monthly school theme, with details in advance (eg: PJ day in July or Footy Colours Day in August)
- Promoting other school events and activities throughout the year as per the school calendar
- Supporting fundraising efforts agreed upon charities, such as MND Big Freeze, in consultation with the Principal Team and school community.
- Reporting to the School Council via the School Captains, who are co-opted community members.
On behalf of the TPS Junior School Council and the school community, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your commitment and willingness to take on this significant role. We are confident that you will excel in your responsibilities and serve as a positive role model for your peers.
While we celebrate your success, we also want to acknowledge those who were not selected for the Junior School Council this year. The competition was fierce, and the decision-making process was challenging. We appreciate the effort and interest shown by all applicants, and we encourage you to continue to be actively involved in the school community. Your contributions are valuable, and we hope you will consider participating in future opportunities.
Once again, congratulations to the successful applicants of the TPS Junior School Council. We look forward to working with you and witnessing the positive impact you will undoubtedly make in the coming year. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
