Faith and Mission

Tim Swan - Director of Faith and Mission

On the final school day we celebrated Mass together.  It was wonderful to have Fr Luke Bulley CP from St Paul Apostle Parish in Endeavour Hills lead us in prayer and reflection. In his homily, Fr Luke asked us to think about what 'joy' really means.  Students offered a range of answers, from playing on PlayStation to overcoming hurdles in life's journey. Most agreed with Fr Luke when he said that joy is most deeply experienced in relationship with others.  Ours is a joyful faith - we believe in the Good News that is Jesus Christ - and we are called to share the joy of the Good News with everyone; when we do this the world becomes a kinder and more dignified place.  That is why at Christmas time we sing: "Joy to the World!"

As Mr Hogan mentioned in his column, the Christmas Hampers were blessed during the Mass.  When the volunteers from St Vincent de Paul came to collect them, they were sincerely impressed by our generosity and explained that these will make a real difference to the most needy in Dandenong this Christmas.

I thank RE Leader Mr Farrelly for his hard work and faithful service to our community this year and Mr Holewa for his contribution to Youth Ministry for the last two years.

On behalf of the Faith & Mission Team I wish every family in our community a blessed and peaceful Christmas and a joyful and safe New Year.
