Acting Principal

Margaret McKenna

Dear College Families,

This weekend the Season of Advent begins, as time of preparation and waiting for the birth of Christ. We have shared a wonderful few weeks with students! It is amazing to think that students have only one week until the end of the 2021 school year. There is much to share and celebrate in the individual and collective achievements of your daughters and sons.

These past weeks have seen school life begin to return to pre lockdown activities. Movement around the College, Assemblies and SSV sports have begun again. It was a real delight for us to hold the Year 12 Valedictory Liturgy and Dinner here at the College last week; we were able to make it special for students, their parents in a way not possible for a long time. It was lovely to welcome so many Year 12 parents to the Valedictory Liturgy.

Last week also saw the launch Term Zero, the 2022 program for Year 11 students transitioning into Year 12. The new energy and planning of students with their teachers is most encouraging. On Thursday evening we held a Term Zero Formal, what a joy it was to see students enjoying themselves; many danced non-stop for 3 hours. Again, the relaxing of restrictions enabled us to hold this event.

An important part of the past few weeks has been the selection and announcements of the 2022 student leaders. Ms Elise Dowling and Mr Kapil Bhargava will be working with these student leaders throughout 2022. I offer our warmest College congratulations to the following students who have been selected as leaders for 2022:

The College Advisory Committee held their final 2021 meeting last week. I am grateful for the work and support they provide and their generous contributions to Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College throughout 2021. Chair Renae Littlejohn will be stepping down, with Kate Lindsay taking up the Chair role from 2022. Jim Pickersgill, who has been part of the Finance Committee for 20 years and Chair for many of those years is also completing his generous contributions to MMCRC. The College is very lucky to have benefited from the commitment, wisdom and generosity of both Renae and Jim. Abundant thanks.

Friday 3 December - Years 7-11 Awards Assembly 11.00am – Parents Welcome.

It is with pleasure that I am able to extend a warm welcome to parents to join us in Pioneer Hall for this important occasion. As for all public events, you must show evidence of vaccination status via the QR code.

There will be a final newsletter next week to publish the names of the 2021 Award Winners.

Thank you for your continuing support of the College.
