Magis report

Our International Debating teams complete the final qualifying rounds if the 2021 competition this week. Last week’s fixtures saw a fine win to the Year 8 team, who have a chance of making the finals, and narrow losses to Year 7 and 9 who competed strongly against the NSW colleges. Warmest thanks to Ms Daisy Farley and Mrs Lorraine Holmes for their assistance to the teams.

This coming week sees the celebrated Ethics Olympiad Competition on Tuesday. This is a full day event at the College involving a Year 9 and a Year 7 team (the maximum allowed).  Ms Farley and Ms Morgan Ball have been working hard assisting the two fine teams to prepare, and we look forward to a wonderful day of philosophical argument.  There is a link to the Information sheet attached with this Magis report.

The House Ministry Academic Challenge run by Magis was completed this week.  Loreto House had an impressive win ahead of strong Koolyangarra and St Louis teams.  A real highlight was the number of participants from Year 11 with a record 57 students, an exciting sign of their enthusiasm for leadership and commitment of our Class of 2022.  Warmest thanks also to Mrs Janeen Murphy for her initiative leading to this new  section of the challenge program. See the full results on the link below.

Wednesday week, 17 November will see the Personal Project Opening in the GBLT at 7:30am.  Twenty-three students will be presenting their semester two projects and there are some superb creations. As usual the range is exciting, varying from books, posters and PowerPoints, to artworks, music,  a model sailing ship and a variety of computer games and website students have created.
