Year 5/6/7 Camp to Arbury Park

Camp - A different learning environment

It was interesting to observe the Year 5-7 students on camp. The group who made new bat boxes were super excited to use tools that were new to them. Students showed widespread support for each other.  The students were captivated by the natural bush setting and all the campsite had to offer. Even simple things like walking up slippery slopes and looking for things to stop you from slipping like rocks was a new skill, and how to use a broom. For a number of the students, the experience was beyond anything they have experienced. They smiled for 3 days. New friendships blossomed and by choice, table groups had mixed genders and friendships.

Well done to the Garden team (Jenna, Maxine and Josh), Lisa, Luke, Mel, Cooper, Chris and the front office SSO's.  It is a lot of hard work but the camp will be a lifelong memory for most of the students.

Thank you to Mel (our Parent Volunteer) for coming on camp to help supervise. I think she had more fun than some of the students.

*Lots more camp photos on Facebook if you haven't seen them!

“Camp was fun because there was a lot of things to do there. People played games there when we had free time. We had a quiz night and there were prizes for the winners.  My favourite part of camp was hiking and the quiz night.” Klevis Kadriu

"It was a fun, once in a lifetime experience. We didn't get much sleep but I had a good time. We met a bird called Claude. My favourite activity was the scavenger hunt at the beginning of camp. The food was good, they gave very big servings, especially of corn." - Maia Dowling

Instrumental Performance

On Monday afternoon the Instrumental students performed to their families. They showcased their talents that they have been working on with Sam this year.

Thank you to Sam (Instrumental Teacher) for all his work this year with our students.

Sam teaches Vocals, Drums and Keyboard. If you would like to participate in the program for 2022 enquire at the school next year. More information will come out in the first newsletter in 2022.

Remembrance Day

Para Vista had a Remembrance Day Ceremony on the 11th November. We listened to the history of Remembrance, the poem Flanders Field, the Ode and the Last Post.

Due to weather the ceremony was held in the hall with selected students laying the wreath at the flag. Thank you to all involved.

Children's University Graduation

Congratulations to the 20 students who graduated from Children's University this year. On 11th November, 19 students travelled to Adelaide University for a Graduation Ceremony. All students got dressed in their gowns and were ready for the ceremony to start. We had a range of hours that students graduated with, from 30 hours to 330 hours. They received a certificate for their graduating hours. All students should be proud of their achievement in this program.

If this is something you wish to be part of next year keep an eye out for the information. In 2022 students from Years 3 to 6 can be involved.
