FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.

TERM 4 - WEEK 6

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Today as a school community we paused to pay our respects and commemorate Remembrance Day. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we stop for a minute’s silence to commemorate the end of the hostilities for the Great War (World War I) with the signing of the armistice on November 11, 1918.

In our country Remembrance Day is dedicated to Australians who died as a result of war, particularly from World War I onwards.

Significantly, due to the new restrictions (which came into place on the 8th November), today marked the first time we could come together as a school community for a very long time. Our students' reverence during our short service made me a very proud Australian and Principal!

MR TIM UNWIN

Congratulations to Mr Tim Unwin who has been selected as a member of the Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) K-6 Draft Syllabus writing team for the New South Wales Education Authority (NESA). This is a significant achievement and a reflection of the calibre of Tim's skills and professionalism.

DEBATERS

Congratulations to our Year 6 debating team of Erica Holzigal, Seamus Ryan, Sam Thompson and Ella Gallagher who were recently crowned runners up in the diocesan debating competition. A small report can be found on this fantastic achievement in the general news section of this newsletter

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - THIS WEEK'S BRAIN TEASER

Congratulations Louie van Annholt (2SH) who was the 3rd student student to provide Mrs Dunst with the correct answer to last week's riddle:

  • When Ashley was 15, her mother was 37. Now, her mother is twice her age. How old is Ashley?   Answer: 22

This weeks riddle:

  • How many eggs would a rooster lay over three weeks, provided it is adequately fed and housed?

The 12th student to see Mrs Daley (after 8.30am tomorrow) with the correct answer will win a canteen meal voucher to be used on the day of their choosing.

Have a great weekend.
