Final performance for the Creative Workers in Schools Program

Our students in the Creative Workers in Schools Program had their final live performance of their digital artworks in the Drama Centre on Friday 19th November. Our students were guided by PlugIn-Human to create their own digital art and music track. They linked their files to have the music affect the artwork visuals.

Our students were able to work with the mixing desk to further manipulate their artworks in a live performance to the rest of their classmates. This program was supposed to conclude at the end of Term 3, but due to the generous support of the Stockyard Hill Wind Farm, Justin Dwyer was able to extend the project. See our Instagram page for further visuals.

Beaufort Secondary College would like to thank Stockyard Hill Wind Farm for supporting the Digital Upskilling of our students. This support has helped our students move forward with audiovisual programming and creative technology projects, as well as a more advanced level of general computer skills.

Thank you Stockyard Hill Wind Farm for supporting local communities.

White card and first aid training

Students from Years 9 and 10 at Beaufort Secondary College had the privilege of completing either their White Card or First Aid Training. This was run through a subsidised program provided by the CFMEU.

White Card training allowed our students to learn about the basic health and safety regulations required for work sites. Students who have obtained their White Card will now have opportunities to complete work experience and part-time work on construction sites.

The First Aid training course trained our students in basic management of casualties, including how to manage injuries, provide CPR, use a defibrillator and administer medications to treat asthma and serious allergic reactions. Many employers view First Aid certificates as necessary or advantageous in the workplace, which will benefit our students when seeking new employment opportunities.

Year 9/10 Celebrating Cooking

Ms McGregor's Year 9/10 Celebrating Cooking class have finalised their traditional fruit cakes for Christmas and are excited to share some of their final products with you. Our students have followed an intricate process to create these cakes just in time for Christmas. The class draped almond paste and white icing before using different decorating techniques such as piping, moulding and flooding to create a Christmas themed fruit cake.

Mrs Powlett's Year 9/10 Celebrating Cooking class have also worked diligently on baking and decorating their cakes. The class has created some spectacular final products that are fun and full of colour. The class also focussed on different piping techniques and presented many other creative ways to decorate their cakes.

Final Hands on Learning Day Celebration

Our Hands on Learning students had their final day for 2021 on Wednesday 1st December. Our students spent their last day by either adding final touches to the birdbath, working on a free choice project or helping Mr Hooper tidy the shed. The program concluded with a BBQ to celebrate what a great year our Hands on Learning students have had.

We thank Acciona Wind Farm for their support this year as they funded the mosaic seating and birdbath mosaiced by our students. Pictured below is the mosaic birdbath finished by Emily Johnston and a pool cue holder that Jacob Cuthbertson created as a free choice project.

Beaufort Secondary College would like to congratulate Tom Bilston, Zac Dally, Riley Lewis and Ryan Gerrard for graduating from the Hands on Learning program!

Year 10 English Cooking Day

Our Year 10 students from Mrs Plews and Miss Shortal's English classes spent the morning of Tuesday 29th November cooking a meal in the kitchens. Earlier in the term, our students designed their own food truck, which included research and development on a name, slogan, cuisine and menu. Each student chose an item from their menu to then cook and present to the class. It was an enjoyable way for these students to finish Year 10.
