My Voice My Vote event at Parliament House

On Monday the 19th of August, a group of students accompanied by Ms. McDonald attended the My Vote My Voice speaking competition. We heard from 12 schools across Victoria in regards to their opinions on ‘Male and Female Youth as Future Voters’. The theme was open to interpretation thus, students gave diverse and detailed presentations about issues of importance to them. Topics such as the socio-economic disparity influencing voters, lowering the voting age and the significance of educating students about voting and democracy were amongst the many thought provoking subject matters discussed. It was interesting to talk to other staff and students during the breaks, share our opinions and discuss the political climate for youth. Congratulations to Esther Elwood, Scarlett Cuthbertson, Lucy Skelton, Alex McCurry and Indy Warren-Smith for their contributions and support on the day!
