A Decade A Day

This week concludes our "Decade A Day" daily prayer. Throughout the month of October, students from K-10 have been immersing themselves in praying a decade of the Rosary each day. This was initiated by Bishop Michael Kennedy to commemorate the Centenary of the Apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima.

Each day students prayed for their own intentions and for the restoration of peace in the world. Particular focus has been on the prayers of Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and The Apostles Creed. Students have become very well versed in these prayers and we will continue to include these in our daily prayers.

Hail Mary, full of grace.

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

The Feast of All Saints - 1st November

Today marks the Feast Day of All Saints. All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls' Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven.

Staff, students and members of the St Philomena's community celebrated Mass together to commemorate this important day within the Catholic Church.

Father, All-Powerful and ever-living God,

today we rejoice in the holy men and women

of every time and place.

May their prayers bring us your forgiveness and love

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
