Primary Diocesan Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday 25th February, St Philomena’s hosted the 2016 Diocesan Swimming Carnival, where 390 students represented schools from across the Armidale Diocese. We had 31 students from Years 3-6 representing St Philomenas. The students participated with great sportsmanship and were excellent ambassadors for our school. The day was a huge success, and we thank our dedicated parent helpers who assisted in a number of ways.

Congratulations to the students who have progressed through to the Polding carnival, which will be held on Thursday 31st March at Homebush, Sydney.

The students include, Abby George, Ryan Devney, Charles McDonald, Jonathon Phelps, Alex Macey, Camilla O’Neill, Xanthe Cogan and Zara Cogan.

We wish our students the best of luck when they compete later this month.

Winter Trials

Winter Sports Trials will be held in Inverell on Friday 18th March. The trials are targeted at Year 6 students. Talented Year 5 students have also been considered.

Students have been asked to nominate themselves for the trials. To be eligible for the trials, students must have played in weekend or representative competitions in 2015 and will continue to play in 2016. The number of students that can be selected is as follows:

Rugby League - 6 boys

Soccer - 4 boys and 4 girls

Netball - 4 girls

Depending on the number of nominations, trials will be held next week during lunchtime.
