St Philomenas Caritas

K's Fundraiser

This year to show our support for the work Caritas does, St Philomena’s students are walking in solidarity around the school grounds. By taking part in a Caritas Ks event, we are raising money and awareness for people who have to cover many kilometers to access freshwater, attend school or work, or flee from natural disaster.

On Friday 11th March, students are encouraged to bring a bucket, books or a baby doll to walk with them, earning points for their house.

On the day, students can wear their house colours, to show their support for their team. Donation envelopes will be sent out this week to be returned by Friday 11th.

U-Turn Youth Ministry Retreat

Following a successful visit in 2015, members of the U-Turn Youth Ministry Team (Servants of Jesus Community, Sydney) will visit our school again on Friday March 18th.

During the day they will conduct retreats with our Stage 4 and Stage 5 students. They will also discuss the Discovery Youth Camp, run by the Good Shepherd Fellowship, to be held at Lake Keepit Recreational Facility.

Michael Axiak, a member of the 2015 team, will again lead the group. In addition to the school-based activities, the team is hoping to conduct youth activities in the Parish on Friday afternoon and Saturday 19th March.

The male team members will be provided accommodation at the Parish Centre. The female members of the team (3 in total) would happily accept any offer to be billeted. If you feel that your family would like to accommodate one or more of the female members of the U-Turn Youth Ministry Team, the details are as follows:

Accommodation required Thursday 17th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th March. The team will have their own transport.

Outside the scheduled school-based activities, it will be at the discretion of the team and the parish regarding additional activities.

Please forward any expression of interest regarding billeting to: nfinlayson@stphilomenasmoree.catholic.edu.au

Growing Good Men

Dear Fathers of Years 8 to 11 boys,

I would like to invite you and your son(s) to attend the Growing Good Men weekend at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre on April 1st- 3rd. We will begin at 6:30pm on Friday and finish at 2.00pm on Sunday.

We all want to have a rich and rewarding relationship with our sons, and like any relationship it takes

commitment, time and effort. We all want to give our sons guidance, wisdom and love. Fathers are instrumental in giving their sons the gift of manhood. The Growing Good Men weekend offers fathers and their sons the time and opportunity to discuss these issues and make plans for the way ahead. The weekend is a wonderful time to reaffirm the importance of this core relationship. Plus it is a time to relax

and have fun together with other fathers and sons.
