Year 3/4 Camp recap

Year 3/4 Camp to Sovereign Hill

The Year 3/4 students began the journey to Sovereign Hill on Monday the 18th September. There was a mixture of excitement and nerves as the bus departed school. However by the time we arrived in Ballarat, there were smiles all around. The students engaged in a variety of activities including exploring the Red Hill Mine, a gold pour demonstration, participating in an Education session (taking them back in time), candle dipping, 9 pin bowling, a musket firing demonstration, and trying their luck at panning for gold. The highlight for many of them was the excitement of finding gold after persisting by the creek.

Under the night skies, the students were able to watch the Sound and Light Show which depicted the story of the Eureka Rebellion.

On the journey home on Tuesday, we stopped via M.A.D.E (The Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka) in Ballarat to see the Eureka flag. We were amazed at just how large the flag was!

Special thanks to the teachers who attended and to our terrific parents who came along; Gillian, Maria, Fulvio, Brendan, Sean and Dom.
