Assistant Principals' Report

NDIS and student transport

In July 2016, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) commenced rolling out across Victoria and will become available progressively based on geographical areas over three years.

Student transport is in scope of the NDIS but during the rollout (July 2016 to July 2019) student transport will still be provided as it is now.

This means the Department of Education and Training (DET) will continue to fund and provide student transport for those who live 4.3km or more from Concord School. This will be through Dysons buses, or conveyance allowance, or independent student travel cards.

The Department of Education has developed a fact sheet (attached) to provide specialist schools, families and carers with information about how the NDIS rollout will affect student transport arrangements.
