All Schools Road Relay Championships

A team of four girls from Killester College were entered in the All Schools Road Relay Championships last Saturday. The team members were Jessica Ingleby (St Elizabeth), Georgie O’Brien (St Elizabeth), Ava Woods (St Rafka) and Olivia Tavone (St Rafka). The girls competed against approximately 50 Grammar, Catholic and Independent Victorian schools. They each ran a distance of 2.2 kms around Princes Park in Carlton.  The course was flat and crowded and the girls did well to keep their place against a large number of other competitors.  The girls placed 25th overall and should be proud of their achievements, this being the first time they had run this event. A special mention to Jessica who, as first runner in the relay, beat all the schools' competitors in the event in a time of 8 mins. Well done and we look forward to competing in future years. Jessica will be representing Killester at the All School’s Cross Country championships at Bundoora in June and we wish her every success in that event.  Our own SCSA Cross Country will be held at the end of the term and the girls have been training for this event each week.

A big thank you to Michael Ingleby, who took some great photos and supported the girls. We were very fortunate to also have the support of Jo and Gavin Burren from Athletics Victoria, whose daughters, Amy and Sarah, (Killester past students) were past runners in this event.
