Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Friends,

This term is running away from us with only three weeks to go and so much yet to be done. This week the Year 10 and 11 students commenced their exams and Year 7 to 9 students are completing assessment tasks as units of work come to an end. We also have the GAT taking place next week for all students studying a Year 12 subject. All in all, it is a busy time that will repeat itself every year of secondary school. So, as always, I would encourage students and parents to take the long view and if girls find this a stressful time of the year, then some self reflection is needed to consider how to manage such busy periods. Whether it is school, work or family life, we will always be presented with times where we have to manage a lot of demands so developing skills and self awareness will help young people successfully navigate these busy times.

Congratulations to our Year 10 Drama class who this week participated in the Drama Victoria Theatre Festival at Frankston. The girls prepared for the competition during the term, working as a team to deliver a successful and thought provoking performance. This is great preparation for those students wishing to continue Drama as part of their VCE studies. Thanks to Ms Galante for the ‘behind the scenes’ work with the girls. Thanks also to the Year 10 girls who continue to run Peer support sessions for our Year 7 girls or volunteered to assist at St Joseph’s primary school homework club. Year 10 girls are certainly engaged in many activities.

Next week will be a short week as there is no school Monday or Friday so I take the opportunity to remind you now that we have our Term 2 Music concert Monday, June 17th. This is always a great celebration of the girls’ work during the semester and is well worth attending, so I hope to see many of you there.

We are very close to signing the contract to commence building our Performing Arts centre on the Rosemary Avenue oval, where the portables have been removed. This will be an exciting stage in our development and hopefully will enrich the experience for students engaged in these subjects. The flip side of this is that, once complete, we can then extend the indoor facilities for PE and Sport by reworking the Kennedy Hall. We will keep you informed once the builders set up and hopefully we can continue to use the drop off zone. Best wishes for the coming two weeks,
