Senior Production - Picnic at Hanging Rock
After a fun-filled ride of weekly, weekend and holiday rehearsals, we performed our 2021 Senior School Production, ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’, on the 27th May. Our amazing teachers, cast, crew and backstage have worked tirelessly from the end of 2020 to put together a wonderful production for students, teachers, parents, and the school and local community. We faced challenges, but were able to overcome them and try our hearts out on the big stage. Every year our production group grow close and this year was no exception. We are extremely thankful that we still had the opportunity to perform on the night prior to lockdown and managed to have a full house with a fantastic audience. We all feel that MESC’s Picnic at Hanging Rock was a success, although we’re a little bias!
We would like to thank everyone who gave their services to the production, especially our teachers, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Zimmerling, Ms. Hayes, Mr. Benson and Mrs. Collard, where their absence would have prevented us from creating the spooky, uneasy atmosphere of Picnic at Hanging Rock. Others in the school community that were also of great help were Rick Merron (Lighting), Fiona Cran (Costumes), James Farnill (Sound design), Marianne Siggs (Hair), Rebecca Spong (Set design and painting), Heidi and Darren Richards and Michael Orchard, who all contributed behind the scenes to help bring the play to life. Some highlights of our journey were the impromptu acapella, lots of snacks at rehearsals (especially hot chips), the friendships that were cemented and many hilarious moments of laughter on stage. All of us had a spectacular time, and we hope that our performance entertained and maybe even inspired other students to participate in future school productions.
