Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

As I am sure you are all now aware, the announcement this morning that we will be moving into a seven day lockdown, in response to the latest COVID-19 situation, means schools will, from Monday 31st May, move to remote learning. Tomorrow Friday 28th May will be a school closure day as directed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, to enable teachers to plan for the remote learning which will take place throughout next week.  There will be no supervision available for students tomorrow, however, from Monday 31st to Thursday 3rd June, Remote learning will commence at 9:00am on Monday morning with a GOOGLE MEET for all classrooms.  Students will access their learning through SEESAW (Prep to Year 1) and GOOGLE CLASSROOM (Year 2 to Year 6).  Any issues relating to this access should be addressed via email to your child's classroom teacher.

Parents requiring a device for their child will need to email Mrs Smith, lsmith@tcs.catholic.edu.au so that this can be arranged for collection on Monday from 8:30am.

Schools will deliver a supervision program for children of authorised and essential workers, and vulnerable children throughout the lockdown. If your child needs to attend onsite please email me at principal@tcs.catholic.edu.au

We will endeavour to keep you all updated with any new information that becomes available and thank you all in advance for your continued patience, support and understanding.

Uniform Supplier

Our current school uniform supplier is no longer able to supply us with new stock as they are no longer in operation. We do have considerable stock remaining, however, as we begin to run out of sizes in certain items it will become necessary to seek out a new supplier.  We are in the process of exploring our options in regard to this situation and will keep you informed as to how we progress.

Dogs in the Playground

Unfortunately I must ask those of you with dogs who pick up and drop off children to please keep dogs on a leash and not enter the school yard with them as we have had a few children who have raised concerns about their presence. If we could all please support this request that would be greatly appreciated.

After School Playground

It is great to see many of our families gathering after school around the adventure playground supervising their children playing. Please be advised that only children whose parents are present should be in the adventure playground and any child waiting to be picked up should do so with the teacher on after school duty at the gate.

Student Led Conferences & Parent Teacher Meetings

Our student led conferences will take place on Thursday 24th of June this year as part of our official reporting to parents. These time slots will be  13 minutes with 8 minutes for students to talk, followed by 5 minutes for parents/teacher/student conversations and questions.

Student Led Conferences take the form of a presentation by your child about the learning that has happened across the semester in each learning area through Seesaw, Workflows, Workbooks etc.

Bicentennial Mass

On Monday 24th May, our Senior School Captains as well as our MiniVinnies Leaders attended the Bicentennial Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral to celebrate 200 years of Catholic Education in Melbourne. Ms Antonella Tsakmakis accompanied our children and let me know what wonderful representatives of our school they were.  Congratulations to our School Captains, Amy and Michelle, our Vice Captains Patrick and Amelia and our MiniVinnie Leaders, Leek, Angus, Darren, Douglas and Charlie.

Reconciliation Night

A big thank you to all our families who attended last Thursday's celebration of the sacrament of Reconciliation. I heard many comments about what a wonderful celebration it was and Fr Trung let me know how impressed he was with our children, their knowledge and their participation on this this special occasion.  My thanks of course to each child's teacher and Ms deKort for their work in preparing our children.

Kind Regards

Mr Nigel Rodrigues
