What a week! Thank you so much to all our amazing 1/2 families for the huge effort you put in during remote learning. We are extremely grateful for your support even though at times it wasn’t always easy.

In Writing, students had the opportunity to turn their persuasive writing topics into a persuasive speech. We were so impressed with the arguments and expression used when they delivered their speeches. Some topics included why we need a class pet, why all children need to play outside everyday and why 1/2s deserve a class party. There were some very convincing reasons for all topics!

During reading a key skill we have been working on is making inferences. We have focused on using our prior knowledge and finding evidence in the text to ‘infer’ what is happening in a short text or story. This skill really helps us to comprehend what we are reading.

In Maths we ran mini groups to focus on different skills including skip counting, addition

and subtraction strategies as well as adding money to make different values.

Throughout remote learning, students participated in a variety of activities from the learning choice board. We loved seeing the perseverance and creativity shown during the STEM maze building activity. It was also wonderful to see so many students complete the read aloud activity to practice their expression and fluency.

Students again showed beautiful creativity when they made the Aborginal and Torres Strait Islander flags during Indigenous Perspectives. It was amazing how students used their imagination to find objects around the home and create the colours of these flags.

Well done to everyone for practicing their dance moves for the Junior School Production. We loved watching all your videos!

Once again thank you to everyone for keeping learning at home possible. It’s a challenge, but the children have shown amazing resilience, creativity and flexibility.

We are looking forward to spending the remainder of the term working hard and having fun together again!

Thank you for your support and have a great week!
