Eastland School of Rockets

In celebration of STEM week, Eastland invited 10 primary schools in Maroondah to get creative and challenge themselves to think outside the box in a unique and exciting rocket ship challenge.

Great Ryrie Year 3 students have taken on the challenge and they are in the process of creating a rocket which they have called… Ryrie’s Responsible Rocket.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN results have been released and we have performed at a very high level in comparison to our similar schools and network schools.

There have been some changes to the appearance of the NAPLAN results this year.

NAPLAN will continue to measure student achievement in numeracy, reading, writing, spelling, and grammar and punctuation but the results will now be presented in 4 proficiency levels:

These are:

· exceeding

· strong

· developing

· needs additional support.

This change will give schools, parents and carers clearer information that details student achievement against new proficiency levels.

Students’ NAPLAN reports will continue to show how they are tracking against their peers and provide an indication of their skill levels against national averages and where we would expect them to be to get the most out of schooling. This provides valuable information to teachers about how we can continue to support your child.

Each set of NAPLAN results is an important milestone but it’s also important that students know that one result does not define them – these results are about making sure every student gets the support they need so they can continue to get the best from their learning.

We will send home further information about the school’s excellent performance in the coming weeks.

Welcome to the Team

We welcome Natalie to the Great Ryrie Team. Natalie is a Speech Therapist who is already working with some of our students and has agreed to come on board as part of the Great Ryrie Staff. Natalie enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends. Natalie is currently learning the piano and to speak Italian. Nat loves the Summer, being in the outdoors and working with kids.

We are so fortunate to have you and we know what a difference you will make to our families at GRPS.

Have a great weekend with your family and friends.
