During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

| Reading | Week 5 & 6: We will continue to explore a range of texts that include sounds and heart words as part of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. In week 5 students revised the graphemes for the long u sound such as u/u-e/ew/oo. They were introduced to the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin and focused on comprehension and vocabulary from the story. In week 6 students are focusing on the ar sound with the graphemes ar/a/al. |
| Writing | Week 5 & 6: Students will continue to focus on writing narratives. They will be studying some popular fairy tales, to identify the problem and solution of narrative stories. Students will use this format as a guide to writing their own narratives, using the correct structure. Students have enjoyed publishing their writing pieces. |
| Maths | Week 5 & 6: Students will continue to develop their number fluency skills, at their individual point of need, through a range of daily activities. In week 5 and 6 students will be learning about fractions; half 1/2, quarters 1/4 and eights 1/8 of a whole and of a collection. |
| Inquiry - 'What's our background' | Week 5 & 6 : Students will be continuing their investigation other countries, focusing on France and China. They will explore famous landmarks, traditions and geographical features of these countries. |
| Social & Emotional Learning | Week 5: Students focused on how to be safe when using the internet. Week 6: Identifying big and small problems and strategies to manage problems. |
News and Reminders.
- Please remember to bring your take home books every day so that phonics books can be updated.
- Please remember to return library books each week. See your class teacher for when you library session is.
- Monday 21st - Friday 25th of August book week.
- Book week dress up theme: favourite character from a story, if possible bring the book along.
