Learning & Teaching

Year 1

In Term Three, Year One is exploring a Paddock to Plate investigation unit. The students engaged in an excursion to Beechworth Bakery last Friday. There was great energy and excitement throughout the day as the students got to experience the process of how we make shortbread and bread. The students were creative as they decorated their shortbread with m&ms and shaped some bread dough into whatever shape they liked.

Sports Corner

The 2023 Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday at Jack Eddy Oval in perfect conditions. The students participated in eight different events including high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, hurdles, sprints and distance. It was great to see so many of our students excited and participating to their best throughout the day.

Congratulations to the following students who were awarded as Age Group Champions on Tuesday: Harper M (11 girls), Sam H (11 boys), Milla R (12/13 girls) and Ollie S (12/13 Boys). We look forward to announcing the winning house at the assembly next week.

A big thank you must go to all the staff involved in the day, especially those that assisted with setting up the events bright and early. We also thank and appreciate the families that came to support our students and helped out at different events throughout the day.

In other sports news at St Mary’s, the Boys and Girls football teams will travel to Swan Hill next Thursday 3rd August, and the Girls Netball team will make their way to the same venue on Tuesday 8th August. All of these teams will be representing the Campaspe Division and we wish them good luck and further success at the next stage.
