Winter Sport Round 2

Last Friday our Year 6 students went to Elliminyt Primary School to participate in the second round of the Winter Sports Competition. They participated in football, netball and a variety of games e.g. Newcombe. Our Year 5 students remained at school and had their own winter sport competition.  They participated in badminton, soccer and netball.

Winter Sport Round 3

This Friday 4th August our Year 5 and 6 students will travel by bus to St Mary’s to participate in Round 3 of the Winter Sports competition. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 11:40am and return at 1:30pm (students may have a lunch order). All students will need to wear their sports uniform. Children will participate in one of the following sports – Football, Netball, T-Ball, Soccer, Hot Shots Tennis and Volleyball. Students will need to bring along the appropriate gear for their sport e.g. football boots, shin guards etc.

 

Year 3 and 4 Sports Session

This Friday 4th August our Year 3 and 4 students will participate in a sports session with each other. Students will choose one of the following sports to play – soccer, basketball, netball, down ball/spike ball and mixed games. This will take place from 12:00 – 1:30pm. Could all students please wear their sports uniform and bring along their drink bottle.

 

2023 Schools Netball Championships

Good luck to the Year 6 girls who will represent Sacred Heart at the 2023 Schools Netball Championships. This will take place on Tuesday 15th August at the State Netball Centre in Melbourne. The team consists of Livi Harris, Charli Doyle, Stella Foley, Olivia Widdicombe, Olivia Horner, Astin McCrimmon, Amelia Veale, Indiana Hillman and Scarlett Gibson. More information will be sent out via PAM.

 

Colac Division Badminton Tournament

We are currently learning about badminton in our Year 5 and 6 sports classes. This is in preparation for the Colac Division Badminton Tournament which will be held at the Colac Showgrounds on Friday 18th August. We are hoping to send two teams to this event.

Name: Talon Borch (Yr 5 JT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sports are cricket and basketball, because they are fun and you get to play with your friends.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I kicked a goal from the midfield in football.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? The strengths I have that make me a good athlete are my athleticism and my strength.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I love the team work that is involved in sport.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Joel Selwood. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite because he is a good football and a good leader.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Geelong Cats.

 

Name: Gwen Scott (Yr 6LG)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is badminton because it is really fun to play.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I won tennis against a really hard team and for getting picked to represent the school two years in a row.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I have pretty strong arms so I can play well in racquet sports.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I can win with the help of my team members. I also find playing sports a lot of fun.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Ash Barty Why are they your favourite? She is my favourite sports star because she is an amazing tennis player, and I really look up to her.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Geelong Cats.

 

Name: Lily Simon (Yr 4SF)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is netball because I like that it is a team sport and I get to play with my friends.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was shooting three goals in a netball match.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in netball are my speed and my dodging skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is a fun activity.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Liz Watson. Why are they your favourite? She is my favourite because she is a fast centre player.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Vixens
