Foundation Fire Education

Term 3

During weeks 4 and 5 this term, the Foundation students took part in a Fire Education program.

It was a fantastic time for students to learn about our community helpers and how they can support us to solve different problems that we might have.

The local firefighters came down to SJV and spoke to the students about good fires and bad fires. We also explored how to respond in a fire and who to call for help by learning the phrase, ‘Crawl down low and go, go go’.

The students also learnt about smoke detectors and the importance of making sure our batteries are up to date on these. The firefighters bought their uniform and explained to the students all the different and important parts of it.

On their second visit, the students were lucky enough to explore the fire truck and had a chance to sit in the back seats. They also had a chance to use the fire hose which they loved.

The experience was fantastic and we thank the Glen Waverley Fire Station immensely!
