Wow! What an adventure the Year 4s had at Sovereign Hill! There were many new experiences and lots of highlights with our friends and teachers! We were so lucky to go to camp and have such an amazing time!

“I liked the candle dipping because we mixed different colours to make other colours to dip our candles in. I also enjoyed the pantomime because it was funny. We also got to stay up late with our friends.” - Alec

“I enjoyed gold panning with my friends because it was a lot of fun and something I hadn’t done before. I liked going on the mine tour because it was fun and cool and we got to go underground. I wasn’t scared!” - Patrick

“I enjoyed going underground in the mines and going on the little tram. We got to learn about how dangerous gold mining really was. I loved seeing how the candy is made. They were super delicious!” - Kingsley

“I enjoyed the Aura Light Show on the first night because we got to go on a cool tram and hear interesting stories about what happened long ago. I also loved doing the candle dipping because I got to dip my own candle in lots of colours and take it home.” - Ollie

“My favourite thing about camp was the Aura Light Show. It told us about the history of the Gold Rush. I really liked gold panning and finding lots of specks of gold. The whole camp was SUPER fun!” - Mason

“It was fun when we went gold panning. I didn’t participate much because I was sick. Everyone tried but got nothing until the worker came and demonstrated how to do it. There was no one who didn’t get their feet or shoes wet. Noah and Matthew got 5 specs of gold leaves each!” - Jayden

“My favourite part of camp was the Light Show. For the second part, we went in cars and drove around the town to the next part of the show.” - Noah

“What I liked about camp was candle making because it was cool how the paint dried quickly and we got to take them home.” - Ashton

“At camp in the cabins, some of my friends were doing a comedy show. Somehow Ashton and Aarush slept right through it! We also bought toys and candy with our shopping money on our final day.” - Jason

I liked a part of the Light Show because it taught me a little bit about gold. It turns out that gold was a gift from the stars! If you’re lucky enough you might find some flakes of gold!

“My favourite part was when we went on this ride down into the Secret Chamber mine. It was scary because when we went inside it was pitch black for a second. The cold air went on me, but I realised that it could have been a fan or something? “ - Mia

“I really enjoyed the “Light Show!” There were projections onto tents and buildings, the tents could move and they were putting stuff on fire! Some of the fire was fake, some actually real! There was a wall that opened and we could see outside. The Light Show was all about the Gold Rush and the history of Ballarat.” - Angela

"The best part about camp was when we went down underground, into a “secret chamber” in the mine. It was totally dark for at least 90 seconds!" - Oliver
