NSW Netball All Schools Cup Regional Carnival
The Year 7/8 boys netball team took to the courts with some trepidation being the first ever boys team from Kildare to make it through to the NSW Netball All Schools Cup Regional Carnival. They competed against schools such as Marion, Trinity, Tumut, Xavier and Coolamon. Despite a difficult start to each game, the boys proved they were a team to beat showcasing some great skill and use of the ball to place 2nd in their pool awarding a spot in the quarter finals. The boys rallied together against Xavier in the quarter final winning by 2 points to progress to the finals. The boys worked well together but narrowly missed out in the Grand final placing them 3rd place overall.
The Year 7/8 girls came up against some tough competition in each of their round games. They played teams from McAuley Catholic College, Cootamundra High School, Trinity Catholic College and Murrumbidgee High School. Some quality Netball skills were on display from our students who were particularly strong in defence. They won one, drew one and lost two games. The girls made the first round of the finals against Marion Catholic College and narrowly won by 1 goal, finishing the day on a great win.
Our Year 9/10 girls' netball team showcased an exceptional display of skill and sportsmanship. Undefeated in the round games against teams from Tumut, Griffith, Albury, and Young, their remarkable journey took an unforeseen turn in the semi-finals against Xavier. Despite a valiant effort and a strong contest, a couple of unfortunate injuries led to a short-handed team, resulting in a narrow loss to Xavier. Undeterred, our girls battled on, ultimately securing a fourth-place finish overall after an impressive display against Mater Dei. Their resilience, teamwork, and unwavering spirit are a true testament to their dedication to the sport and sportsmanship.

Kildare Catholic College Students Take It Up To Best Water Polo Players In NSW
TWO of Wagga's best young water polo players have thrived against the top school-aged players in the state.
Playing in the combined Catholic colleges team at the NSW All Schools Invitational Water Polo Championships in Woy Woy last week, Campbell Bryce and Jack Piggott said they learnt a lot playing against some strong sides.
The pair have each been playing water polo for about five years; Piggott joining at the recommendation of a swimming club friend, and Bryce after some coaxing from his family.
Though attending different schools and playing in different clubs locally, the pair have found themselves alongside each other in plenty of representative teams.
"We've been playing together for a while with representative stuff, and we've been going down to Albury too, we know how each other play and what we need to do to help each other," Piggott said. Both enjoy having a familiar face at trials and competitions.
"I trialled last year, so I knew some faces and then playing water polo around Australia, I'd seen most of the people there," Bryce said. "It was good because you knew who they were, how they play, and how you compare to them."
Though the CCC boys team didn't win a game during the three-day competition, Piggott said they undoubtedly improved. Having just one 90-minute training session together the day before games began, the boys said it was a tough ask against teams with bigger talent pools and better preparation.
The duo are now looking towards AC'f representation at the National State Championships, undertaking trial processes currently.
Bryce said they worked well together in the water, and he's hopeful they'll both travel to the championships later this year. "It's good to have someone to help and someone to help me."

Touch Football
As a result of winning the Regional Championships at Jubilee Park last term, our Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 girls and boys Touch Football teams made their way to the State Finals in Sydney on Wednesday 2nd August.
The Year 7 and 8 girls played some good Touch Football throughout the day. They played teams from St Joseph's Aberdeen, Manning Valley and Carroll College in the group games, winning 2 of the games convincingly. In the round of 16 Kildare put on a strong display to beat Lindisfarne A.C. to earn a spot in the quarter finals where they lost to the eventual winners Hunter Sport High. Special mention goes to Abbey Jordan and Olivia Driscoll for their leadership and Zara Connolly who scored a total of 6 tries throughout the day.
The Year 7/8 boys team faced some highly competitive schools like Hunter Sports, Patrician Brothers, St Joesph’s Banora Point and James Sheahan High School. The team continued to push their limits in each game and progressed into the final rounds. Their last game was the most intense with try for try, ending in a drop off of players. The boys displayed great teamwork and skill and were exceptional on and off the field.
The Year 9 and 10 girls came up against some strong competition in their round games facing teams from Manly, Ballina, Broulee and Tamworth. Some quality Touch Football skills were on display from our students who dominated the majority of their round games. The girls played some fantastic Touch demonstrating particularly strong defense. They drew one game and convincingly won the other 3 games meaning they finished on top of their pool and also progressed to the quarter finals, making the top 8 teams in the state out of 32 schools. They played a team from Orange in the quarter final and despite an outstanding effort, lost to this quality side.
The Kildare Year 9 and 10 boys competed well throughout the early rounds of the finals. Convincing wins against Karabah HS (ACT) and Inverell HS, and a draw against James Sheahan College awarded our boys with 1st in the pool as they progressed to the finals. Another convincing win in the Rd of 16 match vs Richmond Christian College, meant we would match up against Patrician Brothers Blacktown, in the Quarterfinals. Unfortunately, a late try to Patrician Brothers ended our final’s dreams as our boys were defeated 5-4. While the result went against us, our boys certainly proved themselves accountable against some of the best schools in NSW.
Congratulations to all teams for making it to the State Finals in Penrith and for representing KCC so well.
