Prayer

Pope Francis Prayer for the Assumption

Mary, woman of listening, open our ears;

grant us to know how to listen to the word of

your Son Jesus among the thousands of words

of this world;

grant that we may listen to the reality in

which we live, to every person we encounter,

especially those who are poor, in need, in

Hardship.

Amen.

August 15th marks the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which is an important feast for all Catholics around the world. This feast day commemorates Mary being taken up to Heaven, body and soul at the end of her earthly life. This is a core belief of the Catholic Church as defined in the Dogma of the Assumption issued by Pope Pius XII in 1950. This is a day for us also to give thanks to God for the gift of Mary and her role in our salvation.

As a school community we will be having a mass during lunchtime in the Mt Erin Chapel which is open to parents, caregivers and grandparents to attend. This will be optional for students and will begin at 1:40 pm and mass should end around 2:10 pm. If you are able to join us for this mass to mark the Feast of the Assumption it would be very much appreciated.

Our students preparing for the sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion are now underway. They have been meeting once a week on a Wednesday during coaching time in the Nagle Rice room. If there are any other students who have not received either or both of these sacraments they are welcome and encouraged to join at any stage this term. The students will receive these sacraments at a Sunday mass during Term Four at the Cathedral of St Michael.
