Dear Senior School Parents/Carers and Students

Welcome back to the start of Term 3. I hope all students enjoyed a restful break during the holidays. As we kick off Term 3, I wanted to extend a warm welcome back to all Year 11 and Year 12 students and their families. I’d like to congratulate all students for the focused and positive way they’ve commenced Term 3 and recognise the role the Senior School Team and Staff have played in supporting this. 

We believe that Term 3 holds great potential for our Year 11 and Year 12 students, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Senior School Team. 

We wish Ms Carla Caminiti and Ms Leanne Milne all the best during their family leave, and we extend a warm welcome to Ms Kelly Mitchell, Mr Shaun Rodan and Ms Brittany Harvey. Together, let's make this term a successful and rewarding one for our students.

SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS

Introduction to the Senior School Team

We have made a few changes to our Senior School Team due to some staff members going on family leave. Ms Kelly Mitchell will be stepping in as the Acting Head of Year 12, taking over from Ms Carla Caminiti. We would also like to introduce Ms Brittany Harvey, who will be joining the Year 12 Team as a Year Level Coordinator, working alongside Mr Ryan Jones. Ms Harvey brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role, and we are thrilled to have her on board. Thank you to Ms Carla Caminiti for her wonderful leadership and support of the Year 12 students for the first semester of 2023. We wish Ms Caminiti all the best during her leave and know that Ms Mitchell will do a fantastic job in her new role.

Mr Shaun Rodan will also be joining the Senior School team as the Acting Head of Year 11, whilst Ms Leanne Milne goes on family leave. Thank you to Ms Leanne Milne for her outstanding leadership during Semester 1 of 2023.  We send our best wishes to Ms Milne and welcome Mr Rodan to the Year 11 Team. Mr Rodan will be joining Ms Kerryn Elrick and Mr Mitch Land as the Year 11 Year Level Coordinators, working together to support our Year 11 students. 

Year 12 Course Counselling and Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) and Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS) Applications

Throughout the year, Year 12 students have been engaging in course counselling conversations with the knowledgeable and passionate Careers Practitioner Mrs Sharon Bourne. These interviews will continue across Mondays and Tuesdays. Students are encouraged to access the extensive resources accessible through the Frankston High School Careers Website. This can also be accessed via Compass favorites tab. Students are encouraged to attend Open Days – a list of the open days has been provided to students via their Year 12 Voice mentoring classes and Careers Website.

On Monday 24 July, Mrs Bourne presented to the Year 12 cohort on the VTAC and SEAs process and provided extra information to families through Compass, emails and via the Careers Website. 

• Timely applications for VTAC open Monday 31 July and close Thursday 28 September. 
• SEAS applications open on Monday 31 July and close on Sunday 8 October. 
• VCE results and ATARs are available to students online from 7.00am Monday 11 December.

YEAR 11 | Course Confirmation Interviews

Year 11 families have their Course Confirmation Interviews on either Monday 14 or Tuesday 15 August. Students have been assigned a Course Counsellor. Families may now book their interview via Compass Conferences. Parents/carers are strongly encouraged to attend this interview. Outside of their interview times, students attend normal scheduled classes across these days.

YEAR 11 | Learn From Home Day

Monday 31 July* is an offsite learn from home day for our Year 11 students where they will be tasked to complete some career education activities in preparation for their Course Confirmation Interviews. 

*Year 11 students studying a Year 12 subject are expected to attend onsite classes during this day.

Year 12 | September Holiday Practice Exams

Thursday 21 September until Thursday 28 September we host the Year 12 Compulsory September Practice Holiday Exams. The holiday exams provide students with the opportunity to maximise their chances at success and ensure their Term 4 study addresses the areas of concerns identified from the exam feedback. Timetable accessible via Compass and below:

Other Key Announcements 

• Monday 31 July VTAC opens for applications for tertiary courses
• Monday 7 August Period 6 Access to Monash briefing for all Year 12 students
• Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 August: Year 11 into Year 12 Course Confirmation Interviews - Year 11 students will have a 15-minute interview scheduled throughout these days (parent/careers book via Compass). Classes as normal.
