MIDDLE SCHOOL
Dear Middle School Parents/Carers and Students
ATTENDANCE
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for one begin with students coming to school each day. Going to school every day is the single most important part of your teenager’s education. Students develop good habits by going to school every day – habits necessary to succeed after school, whether in the workplace or in further study.
Congratulations to all Middle School students who had 100% attendance in Term 2!
We have a minimum attendance expectation of 90% attendance for all students. We will acknowledge and celebrate students with 100% attendance at the end of each term by providing those students with a certificate and free lunch. If your child is sick or absent from school, you are required to notify the school as soon as possible on the day of absence (or prior) using one of the following methods:
- Online (preferred option): Submit Absence Note via Compass. See this guide for instructions.
- Email: Send an email to attendance email address, attaching supporting documentation (if required):
- Telephone: Call the school on 9783 7955 and Press 1.
Notifying the school of your child's absence either prior to, or on the day they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and will fulfil your legal responsibilities.
UNIFORM
All students need to be wearing full winter uniform correctly. This includes traditional leather lace-up school shoes (not black runners) during Term 3. Students must not be wearing socks that have a brand displayed, while PE uniform must only be worn when students have Sport/PE. Year level coordinators will conduct regular uniform checks throughout the term.

MIDDLE SCHOOL UPCOMING EVENTS
Course Selection
The Middle School Careers Day took place on Thursday 20 July. This event aimed to provide our Middle School students with invaluable insights into their 2024 subject selections and various career paths and opportunities available to them in the future. The day included a Tertiary Expo and VCE / VCE VM Subject Expo. We believe that exposing students to different career options at an early stage will enable them to make informed decisions about their educational choices and future endeavors.
Year 10 into 11 course counselling sessions will be held on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 August to assist Year 10 students in selecting the right subjects based on their interests, strengths, and career aspirations. Our experienced and dedicated counselors will be available to guide students through this process, ensuring they make informed decisions that align with their academic and personal goals.
VCE and VM Taster Day
Year 10 students have been allocated to classes on Monday 31 July where they’ll be given the opportunity to learn move about the different Year 11 subjects. After this day, students will be well-prepared to make informed subject selections to make-up their 2024 Year 11 program.
