INDUCTION OF NEW STUDENTS

On Tuesday 11 July our school welcomed 10 new students into our International Student Program from Vietnam, China, Cambodia and Germany. Students will be attending our new English Language Centre or Year 7 classes or Year 11 classes.  We also welcomed their families to our school with a morning tea and school tour.

We were assisted by their classroom teachers, Mr Andrew Batchelor  (Principal) and Mr Cam Heyes.  Ms Sacha Fisher and Mrs Kelly Lin took all of the students on a tour of Mornington to show them our beautiful locality.

FRENCH EXCHANGE STUDENTS

A huge thank you to the Frankston High School Community for the welcome extended to our French Exchange students and their teacher. The students from our Sister School Lycée Jean Zay in Orléans are now in uniform, timetabled and enjoying a typical Frankston High School student experience.

Last week some of them joined Mr John Russel on an excursion to Kurnai College to learn more about our indigenous culture, another group came to cheer on our Intermediate Girls AFL team as they qualified for this year’s State Finals. Madame Reau spent some time with our Science teachers, observing their program and looking for opportunities to enhance interaction between our schools in different subject areas.

Thank you to all the teachers who helped out, and an extra thanks to Mr John Angus for organising timetables to best accommodate the students’ requests, to Mrs Trish Stewart for dealing with Visa issues and arrangements, Mrs Anne Thompson getting the lockers, uniforms and diaries organise, and particularly to Mrs Kate Forsyth for dealing with the mountain of administrative work such an exchange entails.

But a particular thanks to the wonderful host families who are looking after the students during their stay. Your thoughtfulness and consideration are greatly appreciated by the students, the Language Department and our whole school community.
