Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Parents,

This week we had the opportunity to celebrate a major milestone for our Prep students who are now 100 days smarter having completed their first 100 days of school. A very big thank you to the parents, students, and staff who joined us in the celebrations, dressing up as a 100-year-old, enjoying a pancake breakfast, and participating in activities about the number 100. This all culminated in a special ceremony to award students for their achievements.  Check out our Facebook page for some photos of the day.

NAPLAN 2023

This week we received the full cohort data for our Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN assessments. It is with great pride that I share with you that our students have achieved significantly above similar and network schools in all assessments! This is a phenomenal achievement and is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our students, families, and staff every day. Scroll through the images below to see how we performed in each of the assessments.

Although NAPLAN is only one piece of the puzzle in understanding student learning, our ongoing focus in ensuring every student has success continues in the classroom with students setting new learning goals and working with their teacher and peers to achieve them.

PREP HEAD START PROGRAM

Commencing next week, all students currently enrolled to begin Prep at our school in 2024 will begin their HEAD START Program. This is an expansion to our previous Prep Readiness program and is designed to give every child the best possible start to school.

Led by Ms. Watts (Expert Teacher) and Ms. Welsh (Speech Pathologist), all students confirmed for Prep in 2024 will engage in weekly lessons at our school. Students will work in small groups to boost their confidence and readiness for reading, spelling, and basic maths. Best of all, this is completely free to families joining our community.

First-round enrolments have been confirmed, however, if you haven't enrolled your child yet or want to find out more, Contact our front office today by phone or email:

LIT FEST 23

In week 7 of this term, our school will be celebrating LIT FEST 23. This celebration is the expanded version of what was formerly known as 'Book Week'. The committee organising our celebrations has confirmed that we will continue our school tradition of dressing up as a book character on Monday 21/08/2023. To extend our celebrations they have introduced the APS Writers Festival, Reading Cafe, and Cohort Spelling Championship amongst other activities across the week. The High 5 Book Fair will also be open across the week giving students the opportunity to turn their positive behaviour into high-quality reading material. Each of these activities has been designed to not only instill a love of reading in students but also to connect our families with the learning and focus on literacy we have across the school. Keep your eyes peeled for more information, dates and time for each of the events. I look forward to enjoying the week with you.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge that today is National Principal's Day. Strong leadership and the integrity of Principals play a vital role in making our schools vibrant and impactful places of learning for every student. I'd like to congratulate from around the country on the amazing work they do each day. I would also like you to join me in celebrating our Assitant Principal, Mrs. Liong for her amazing work in our community. Her passion and commitment to our students, their families, and our staff is evident in her work each day.

It is truly an honor to be the Principal of our amazing community and I extend my many thanks to each of you for trusting me to drive our commitment to achieve excellence together.

With gratitude,

Mr. Uzunovski
