CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Mathematics we are continuing our learning on measurement of length, area and perimeter.

VOCABULARY

Length: How long an object is. This can be measured using formal units of measurement such as centimetres, metres and kilometres.

Perimeter: The distance around the outside of an object. This is calculated by measuring the length of each side of the object and then adding them together to find the total.

Area: The space inside an object. This is calculated by multiplying the length of an object by its width.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Using a ruler or tape measure, have your child measure different objects around the house. They could then draw the objects and record their length, perimeter or area next to them.
