From the Principal's desk

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2022!

This year we welcome several new and returning staff. We welcome Lily Beer, Katie Keys, Madison Koo-Aga, Amy Ellis, and Tessa Koopman. We farewelled Brooke Allen who has taken up a position at St Anne's in Shepparton and also Jordyn Smith who has taken up a position at Greater Shepparton Secondary College. We shall certainly miss their smiling faces here but I know they will bring enthusiasm and expertise to their new schools. Denise Riordan is away on long service this term and Katie Keys is backfilling this role.

We look forward to an exciting year filled with fun and learning. Covid may put restrictions around some of our activities but we are determined to keep kicking goals. Despite two years of Covid we have continued to rate above like schools and in some cases all schools in the state in the attitudes to school survey completed by students, parent surveys, staff surveys, and Naplan results. We have invested heavily in intervention and high abilities extension to make sure every child achieves their personal best, and we support their emotional/social growth with our whole school approach to Wellbeing which is an envy of many schools.

Covid

I will continue to use Compass Principal Updates for Covid related matters. The second batch of RAT tests have been sent home with children yesterday. Please if you do not have an exemption encourage your Year 3-6 child to bring a mask to school as our supply is limited, and test your children twice a week. If you are unsure about any details please contact us.

Attendance

This year we are focusing on ensuring that we have no unexplained absences. If your child is ill or there is another reason they will be away let us know through Compass or call the office.

Compass

It is important that every family can access compass. If you are having problems logging on or are not sure how to use it please contact the office.

TheirCare

It has been a slow start to families taking up the opportunity to utilise our Out of School Hours Care and I really hope that the numbers pick up. The initial survey had about 20 families interested in using the service. This week only 3 children are booked in. I suggest that if you think you would like to use it in the future e.g. vacation care, school curriculum days that you go online and register. Please see the TheirCare page in this newsletter if you require extra information e.g. charges etc. I have spoken to Jorja Dixon who is our service coordinator and she is happy if you want to call in for a look and see anytime this week before or after school. The program is set up in the Multipurpose Room.
