8 Art Zentangle Drawings

Students from 8B and 8L have been working on designs in Art during remote learning, to develop their skills towards a Zentangle image of an animal.

Students have been exploring the concept of working with lines and shapes to make patterns and applying these ideas to their existing animal drawings.

These designs were developed during Term 3 as an alternative task to lino carving.

Inspiration was taken from indigenous artist Badger Bates, who is well known for his narrative depiction of Australian animals in his lino carvings and prints.

Students worked with the concept of creating a black and white image that is well balanced in the use of positive and negative space, whilst highlighting the unique features of each animal that was chosen.

10 Art – Portrait Drawing

Our talented Year 10 Art students have been working hard during remote learning over Term 3, developing their observational drawing skills from existing photos of themselves, family members and famous people.

This work has challenged students in developing their skills in working with accurate proportion and a variety of mark making using pencil.

Pencil weight, tone and texture have been explored in the facial features, hair and shadows of the people drawn.

These students are to be commended on their adaptability and perseverance in working from home during remote learning and are now progressing their ideas towards a final Portrait Collage work, which I hope to showcase in the newsletter later in Term 4.

Enjoy viewing a selection of student drawings in the slide show presentation.
