Year 7 author visit next week

The Library is excited to welcome author Lili Wilkinson to talk to our Year 7 students next Wednesday November 3.

Lili will speak about her popular young adult books and her writing process, and will answer questions from students.

Lili has written sixteen books for young people across a range of genres. Her titles include The Erasure Initiative, After the Lights Go Out, and Green Valentine.

She previously worked at the Centre for Youth Literature at State Library Victoria, and has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne.

Year 7 students are encouraged to read Lili’s books before she visits. Her books and eBooks are available to borrow from the EDSC Library.

Vote for the 2022 EDSC Library Bookmark design

Students are encouraged to vote for the winner of the 2022 EDSC Library Bookmark competition.

Voting will open in the Library on Wednesday November 3, and close the following Wednesday November 10.

Thank you to all of the students who submitted amazing designs. We were so impressed by the quality of entries!

A shortlist of the best designs will be displayed in the Library from Wednesday, and students can vote for their favourite design.

The design with the most votes will be featured on our professionally printed bookmarks, available free to students in the Library throughout 2022. The designer of the winning bookmark will also receive a $20 prize voucher.

Library Book Return Bonanza

After remote learning, it is likely some students have forgotten about their overdue library books.

To encourage the timely return of library books, any student who brings back their overdue books between Friday October 22 and Monday November 6 will go into our Returns Bonanza Prize Draw.

Each book returned will equal an entry into the draw, with two $20 Big W voucher prizes up for grabs.

Students should check their school email for a list of any overdue books.

We can’t wait to see all our books back and ready for the next student to read.

Some Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Campion?

Campion is a third party company that EDSC uses to administer our booklist and supply new books to students.

Do I have to buy everything on the list?

You need to buy everything listed for the subjects your student is enrolled in. However, general stationery items such as pens and rulers do not need to be purchased from Campion if you already own these items or can source them elsewhere.

Do I have to buy books through Campion, or can I buy second-hand books elsewhere?

You don’t have to buy your student’s books through Campion. However, there is a risk of buying incorrect editions of textbooks from other parties, as textbooks are revised regularly. If you’d like to buy second-hand books, we recommend buying them through the Sustainable School Shop. This company has been supplied with the EDSC booklist and can help ensure you buy the correct editions.

If you buy a second hand book, you should also check whether you need to purchase a digital code to access any extra online resources required.

Why am I charged $15.95 at the end of my order?

Campion charges a $5.95 processing fee for all orders. Orders will also be charged a $10 home delivery fee as due to COVID-19, school delivery and pick-up is unable to take place. However, you may be able to organise order pick-up from Campion by contacting Campion directly.

Do we have to bring all the books in on the first day of school?

No, you can stagger what you bring in to make it easier. You will get information about what is needed on day one.
