Enduro MTB Success

Last weekend Year 10 student, Connor Hester took on the big hitters of the local Enduro MTB scene and held his own by being the 1st placed Junior and placing 6th overall in the third and final leg of the Loco Burrito Social Gravity Enduro Series.

The format of the racing was fast, steep and highly technical as riders hurtled down each of the four stages as fast as their bodies, bikes, brakes and minds would allow.

Stage 1 - Arrhythmia, was 68 seconds of white-knuckle riding behind the Scout Hall. Stage 2 - B-line on the bus track; this black graded trail is not to be underestimated and was just under 3 minutes of technical racing with tough line choices and significant obstacle on route.

Stage 3 - Big Easy, was the longest of the four stages at just under 4 minutes. It is known for being a gradual uphill ride which transforms when ridden in the opposite direction. Highly challenging as riders pushed their bodies to new levels of discomfort as they added huge amounts of lactic acid into hard working muscles.

Stage 4 - Mulga Bill top section was just over a minute and was more Connor's style where he was frequently airborne (see below) for long distances on the narrow trail.

Connor has been a constant participant of the MTB Academy at the College and invests a huge amount of energy and time into his riding but particularly where it involves flying. He has been involved heavily within the local MTB racing scene and we look forward to seeing him continue to challenge himself and others on the bike.
