EARLY START

Our Early Start Program which runs through Term 4 is available to all intending Prep students enrolled at Numurkah Primary School for 2020. This program is an opportunity for children to attend weekly for one hour on a Friday from 9am – 10am in our Prep classrooms.

Through this school readiness program, we aim to provide an opportunity for children and families to establish early relationships with peers, teaching staff and school environment which includes school values, rules, routine and expectations. We encourage families to attend the program on a weekly basis as the program is designed to build on strengths and knowledge from week to week. The end outcome of the program is for children to know what to expect when they arrive in their first year of school, so they transition into their prep year happy, confident and ready to learn.

The program is a free service and is available to all families who are enrolled at Numurkah Primary School for 2020.

EARLY INVENTION

At Numurkah Primary School we are committed to supporting the whole student and ensuring that we provide our students with the necessary enrichment and supports they require to set them on the pathway to success. In our intervention program we seek to identify and address any social emotional or learning difficulties that we know undetected can lead to children not reaching their true potential.

Beginning in Term 4 2019 and continuing into 2020 our Wellbeing Team will begin to assess the needs of our Prep students and an interview will be arranged with each family enrolled in 2020.

Our Wellbeing Team:

Rohan Lelliott - Student Wellbeing Coordinator

Deb McKeown - Student Disabilities Coordinator

Elizabeth Ruscoe - Speech Pathologist

Rachel Robertson - Psychologist (from 2020)

Denise Riordan - Literacy Intervention

Tam Joyce - School Chaplain

 Speech Pathology Students

This week we welcomed to our school student speech pathologists, Eileen Marchant and Georgia Stone. They are working closely with Elizabeth Ruscoe to deliver a high quality language intervention language. They have been taking small groups of students and working one on one with children.

Eileen Marchant

My name is Eileen Marchant. I have previously worked in a large secondary college in Berwick, a SE suburb of Melbourne, and am currently a 4th year speech pathology student at Charles Sturt University in Albury. I am excited to be spending this 4-week university placement working with the students, staff and Speech Pathologist at Numurkah Primary School.

Georgia Stone

My name is Georgia Stone. I grew up in Echuca, completing my high school education at St Joseph’s College. I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology at Charles Sturt University in Albury. I am very excited to be spending the next four weeks at Numurkah Primary School. I chose this course as I have always loved working with children and am very excited to finally have the opportunity to do so. My working days will be Monday-Thursday, please feel free to introduce yourself if you see me around. I cannot wait to meet you all!
