Careers Day Out 2019

Students from Year 10 and 12 (VCAL) attended the 2019 Careers Day Out Expo at the Shepparton Showgrounds on Tuesday 30th April exploring the vast array of careers and pathway options of offer.

Students were able to talk to further education and employment providers as well as participate in hands on activities from operating a crane to making bird boxes and welding.  Students also witnessed a mock car accident, rescue, extraction of actors playing victims and family members and emergency scene with emergency services from Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Country Fire Authority and the SES and full medical staff including doctors and nurses.

The day was an outstanding success and all students that attended gained a great deal from their attendance.  Thank you to those families and students that returned their permission notes to participate in the day.

Winners, Winners……

Students Zanthe and Zaylee Newham and Hannah Bilney entered the Manufacturing Myths competition as part of the Careers Day Out program.  The students interviewed Karen Bentley of Beavo’s Honey about the bee business Karen and her partner, Gary Beavis run. The students prepared a YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHE8G1J5xHg&feature=youtu.be presentation about what they had learnt about the business and we are proud to say the students entry won!!

Zaylee represented the group at the evening session of Careers Day Out and was presented with a rather large cheque for a $1000.00 for the school.  Well done girls on your efforts – you are outstanding advocates for our wonderful College and a great example of what can be achieved by giving things a go.

Forty six year 10 and 12 students attend the Shepparton Careers Day Out Expo. The students had a great morning exploring a range of careers and pathway options available to them through employment and further education, both from within and outside of our region. Congratulations to all those students that attended and for your participation in the many activities on offer. Kaitlyn and Shaelyn Crowhurst did the Acknowledgment of Country at the afternoon session and our Year 12 VCAL students did the set up yesterday. Thanks to Mr Collins, Ant, Kerrie and Ms Bruce to their support of the day
