VCE Boost

Thursdays 3:15pm - 4:30pm Senior Centre

VCE students are strongly encouraged to attend VCE Boost every Thursday after school in the Senior Centre and Pathways Hub.

VCE Boost runs from 3.15-4.30pm with students able to work in study groups or independently and get additional support from attending teachers.

To encourage attendance, any Year 12 student who attends VCE boost will go into the draw to win a Unit 3/4 Exam Workshop of their choice, valued up to $100. To enter, students must attend VCE boost till at least 4pm. One entry per Thursday. The more VCE Boost sessions students attend, the more chances to win!

Welcome Back Year 12!

Over the course of Term 1, we saw our Year 12s hit the ground running and make a strong start to their final school year. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and commitment from our students, both inside the classroom and around the school grounds. We saw students as a collective receive over 1000 Green Chronicle posts, celebrating their dedication, commitment and learning growth in their studies. This week, at our Year Level assembly, we acknowledged the VCE and VM students who were among some of the top recipients of these posts throughout Term 1. For VCE, a shoutout to Chrystin Gosios, Tom Edwards, Alexandra Evans, Orion Rigano, Madison Broder, Freya Makin, Mitchell Mays, Genevieve Howard and Emily Smith. For our VM students, Kailee Smedley and Mikayla Skantos.

VCE Study Boost has been a huge success, with large numbers of students attending Thursday afternoons in the Pathways Hub and Senior Centre to work collaboratively, not only with one another, but with their classroom teachers. Every time a student attends VCE Boost, they go into a draw to win a $100 voucher to put towards an external exam revision session of their choice at the end of the year. A big congratulations to Elias Skantos who was the recipient for Term 1. If students haven’t yet attended a VCE Study Boost, they’re encouraged to get down on Thursdays as it’s never too late, plus there are free cheese toasties to keep everyone nourished.

It's not all serious business however for the Year 12s, with the highly anticipated social event of the year, the Year 12 Formal being held on Thursday 18 May. We can’t wait to celebrate and enjoy an amazing evening with the cohort, who I am sure have been very busy making the big decision on deciding what to wear for the evening. Alongside this, the Year 12s will have their second theme dress up day for the year. The theme is still in the process of being decided and will be put to students in coming weeks.

With Term 2 now in full swing, as a sub-school team we look forward to continuing to support our students as they work towards completing Unit 3 by Week 7 of this term. We want to remind our students and parents that we have several supports in place to help them navigate these stressful times, and they are encouraged to reach out to us if they need any support.

We wish our students all the best for Term 2 and beyond and look forward to sharing the journey with them.

2024 VCE Pathways

This week, the focus of our Year 10 assembly was to introduce the three VCE pathway options that will be available in 2024. The significant change is within the Vocational Major (VM) pathway giving VM students the option to study VCE subjects in addition to Vocational Major subjects. This change will give VM students even more choice than they currently have when navigating their pathway in Senior School and beyond.

There will be more information regarding VCE pathway options in the coming months and parents/students are encouraged to come along to Curriculum Information Evening, early in Term 3, to find out more about each pathway. Additionally, we will be hosting an online information session just for students/parents interested in the VM pathway to provide further details about the two VM pathways. Stay tuned for more information later this term.
