World Youth Day 2023

A big thank you to all families for the great support of our World Youth Day students.  Over the past term we have been able to support all of the diocese student pilgrims through the mufti day that we had earlier this term  For our pilgrims Althea Dela Cruz and Bryce Vinensig we have sold Krispy Kreme donuts, Zooper Doopers and also had a K-6 Disco.  Overall, it has been a great community effort to raise funds to get them to Lisbon, Portugal.

On behalf of Althea and Bryce, thank you so very much!!

YCS @ St Luke’s:

The members of the YCS team at St Luke’s have been working harmoniously to promote multiculturalism through profound activities. They created this video where students and teachers from different cultural backgrounds said ‘Hello’ in their language. Students worked with Mr Blomfield to create a photobooth so that their peers can capture their special moments in their cultural costume. YCS leaders and team members grabbed the Harmony Day celebration to promote YCS by distributing flyers, cookies and orange ribbons. Congratulations to the entire team for their untiring efforts and success.

Social Outreach

JSS Food Drive -

In the last addition of The Net I had received a call from JSS asking for a quick delivery of food as the Ignite Food Store was in desperate need.  Within one week we were able to supply 16 tubs of product to assist the community.  The shelves had a great boost of products.  Claire Thomas from JSS passed on a BIG THANK YOU to all those families who were able to assist.

The shelves went from empty to:

Liturgy

Throughout this term, different stages have had the opportunity to celebrate our faith in their Stage Liturgies. During week 9, Stage 1 came together as a body to praise God for the creation and all that is in it. Students were able to deepen their understanding of the gift of God through nature by listening and reflecting on the Creation story.

Stage 2 also celebrated their learning by reflecting on the meaning of prayer. They were able to write their prayers and use them throughout the Liturgy to give thanks to the Lord for this wonderful start to the year.

This week Early Stage 1 reflected on the meaning of friendship, and how Jesus calls us to be their friends. Students shared their Friendship rocks and how they represent how much they love a very special friend.

Many blessings,

Isabel Ruiz Davila

Liturgy Coordinator
