Parents and Friends News

Dear families,

Tomorrow is Walk Safely to School Day! Consider walking to school or even a few extra blocks. It's great for your health and the environment.

Thanks to those who attended the P&F Meeting yesterday. It’s great to plan for ways to build on our school community.  We have had great feedback about events so far including the Mother’s Day Celebration and look forward to more great events.

If you have any queries or suggestions please reach out to the P&F at parentsandfriends@sbshepparton.catholic.edu.au.

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 19 March 2023

The weather looks great for a walk to school tomorrow Friday, 19th March!

Consider the best way to walk to school, maybe only a few blocks rather than the whole way. Keep safe by looking before crossing the road and crossing at safe crossing points.

Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.

You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:

  • Walking with them the whole way to school
  • If you drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.

Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.

Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 19 May 2023! For more information, visit www.walk.com.au

Mother’s Day Stall

Well done to members of the P&F who sourced some fantastic gift options. We hope Mother’s, Grandmother’s and other special people enjoyed receiving their gifts.

We had 118 students place orders!

Thank you to Pat Goyne, Ebony Collie, Harneet Kaur, Andrea Kiel and Belinda Riseley who packed orders and set up the hall for the Mother’s Day Celebration.

We were pleased to have the support of the following businesses for the stall:

·        Billabong Nursery

·        Blissful Suds

·        Luna Jade Design

·        Dreamy Botanicals

·        Knots n Cotton Co.

·        Duncan Court Hair Studio by Alana Charles

Mother’s Day Celebration - Friday,12th May

It was so wonderful to see the School Hall full of families for the St Brendan's Mother's Day Celebration on Friday, 12th May.

Mother’s, Grandmothers and other special people enjoyed making a hot drink, having a muffin and doing some colouring with students.  Families were able to have a chat and also take a special photo.  Thanks to Mr Brian for taking the photos.

We were lucky enough to have Father Jackson come and lead a prayer for Mother’s Day.

There has been great feedback about this event and we look forward to more similar events at school.
