What's happening in the Middle Years....

Middle Years Report

English

This term we have been conducting an author study on Phillip Bunting looking at the Gentle Genius of Trees. This book involves investigating sustainability and the environment and ties in nicely with our Inquiry topic. On Friday, we will embark on an excursion to Australian Botanical Gardens in Shepparton to explore a snapshot of the natural environment in Shepparton.

While there the students will have a list of tasks to investigate involving iPads followed by an information report when they arrive back at school. This will also be an opportunity for students to socialize with others within the 3/4 cohort and branch beyond their normal friend groups.

Maths

This term we are extended our understanding of the four basic operations by looking at multiplication followed by division. We are also touching on measurement by looking into the concepts of length and perimeter.

Religion

This term we have some students completing their Sacramental program and stepping up to support St Brendan’s Church at mass through altar serving. The students were also very blessed to be able to participate and perform in workshops and a concert hosted by Andrew Chinn.

Inquiry

This term our Inquiry topic is ‘How Do Living Things Survive?’. Through this we have planted bean seeds and investigated the features of a flower. We are going to build on this by planting trees at Princess Park and investigating the relationships between animals and plants and how they promote survival.
