Before and After School Care Voucher program update

The department is pleased to announce that the Before and After School Care (BASC) Voucher program has re-opened for parent claims and will remain open until 31 January 2023.

This extension will allow parents, particularly those with a child starting kindergarten in 2023, an additional opportunity to claim and redeem a voucher for their child.

What you need to know

Parents that claim a voucher will have until 31 January 2023 to present them to a participating service provider for redemption. All participating providers must scan and redeem all vouchers by 31 January 2023. Previously, parents had until 31 December 2022.

The value of all BASC Vouchers will still be $500, and only one voucher per child. Funds from the voucher can be used to pay for sessions of care until the $500 is exhausted, or until the end of the program on 30 June 2023. Reporting obligations also remain the same.

Please note that provider registration has not re-opened, therefore, this offer is only available to providers that are already participating in the BASC Voucher program.

Next steps

Participating providers have been advised and encouraged to continue redeeming vouchers until 31 January 2023. After 31 January 2023, they will no longer be able to scan and redeem vouchers.

If possible, please advise parents of this additional opportunity to claim a voucher via their Service NSW app on their smartphone device, or via the Service NSWExternal link website.
