Principal Report & School Information

From the Principal...

Recent Events

We had another great week with some memorable events at OPS.

This week we held our Easter collection for the Easter raffle. On Tuesday we had casual clothes day and collected some easter related products. It was a huge success, and we thank everyone for the generous donations. We would like to especially thank our wonderful P&F parents who worked extremely hard behind the scenes to make this happen. The Easter raffle will be drawn during Monday’s assembly at 3.00 PM.

We also had great fun during our icy pole day on the 24th, with our students really enjoying the treat.

The Learning Continues

Some fantastic learning is happening throughout the school including Reading, Smart spelling, building on fundamental numeracy skills, STEAM, Performing Arts, and Korean. The school review has most definitely brought out the strengths and areas of celebration. The data the panel has been presented with is incredibly strong and reflects the hard work of teachers and students. As we head into the final stages of the review, we are working together to streamline our priorities and goals for the next four years. I thank Jo feather, Nerida Clark for their input and the two principal challenge partners – Libby A (Glenhuntly PS) and Chellee P (Murrumbeena PS). It has been a very productive time for OPS and I look forward to sharing the report with the community as soon as it is completed. I also thank the teachers and students for what they have contributed to the review process.

Thursday the 6th of April is the end of Term 1. We will finish the day at 2.30, there will be no assembly and students will be dismissed from their classrooms.

Parents are reminded that children should not be arriving at school before 8.45am in the morning. The students are not supervised at this time of the morning as teachers are preparing their classrooms for the day. Before and After Care facilities are available for parents who need to get to work early.  Students should not be inside the buildings before the first bell unless supervised by a teacher.
